Today we visit a few modern monuments of Delhi such as Lotus temple or the Bahai Temple, Akshar Dham Temple, the IT city of Gurgaon, and a lesser-known stepwell which is right in the centre of New Delhi called Agrasen ki Baoli.

Lotus Temple is one of the prominent attractions of New Delhi. It is close to Nehru Place, one of the busiest commercial hubs in the city. The temple is built in the shape of a lotus flower amidst the lush green landscape that turn up to a pleasant and tranquil ambience. It is a Bahai House of Worship and is open to people from all religions. The Bahaí Faith is a world religion whose purpose is to unite all races and peoples in one universal Cause and one common Faith.

The Lotus Temple and the Sydney Opera House have similar construction types and outward appearances. However, the two structures having different influences for their constructions were completed by very different means and methods. It’s closed on Monday for public visits.

Agrasen ki Baoli, (stepwell) which is 60 meters in length and 15 meters in width, features a unique and ornate architectural style. The whole structure is built out of rubble masonry, using an assortment of rocks and stones. The rectangular shape of the stepwell makes it stand out from the other baolis in Delhi that were built as round water reservoirs. It spreads over three visible levels, each of which is adorned with beautiful and symmetrical arched niches that line on both sides. Agrasen ki Baoli is among those few stepwells in Delhi that boast of a single-flight staircase. There are more than 100 steps that take you down to the water level and as you go down, you can experience a drop in temperature as well.

There is no clear historical record about when the magnificent Agrasen ki Baoli was built and by whom. However, many historians suggest that it was constructed during the period of the Mahabharata by none other than the legendary king of Agroha, named Maharaja Agrasen. The stepwell or baoli draws its name from him. Later, in the 14th century, it was rebuilt by the people of the Agrawal community who are known to be the descendants of Maharaja Agrasen. Architectural features of the stepwell also indicate that it was reconstructed during the Tughlaq dynasty (1321 -1414) or Lodhi dynasty’s (1451 to 1526) reign over Delhi.

Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi epitomizes 10,000 years of Indian culture in all its breathtaking grandeur, beauty, wisdom and bliss. It brilliantly showcases the essence of India’s ancient architecture, traditions and timeless spiritual messages. The Akshardham experience is an enlightening journey through India’s glorious art, values and contributions for the progress, happiness and harmony of mankind.

The Swaminarayan Akshardham complex was built in only five years through the blessings of HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj of the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and the colossal devotional efforts of 11,000 artisans and thousands of BAPS volunteers. Heralded by the Guinness World Record as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple, the complex was inaugurated on 6 November, 2005.

Gurgaon, officially named Gurugram, is a city located in the northern Indian state of Haryana. India has a vast range of climatic conditions from tropical in the south to alpine in the north. Most of the country outside the Himalaya region is at its best for travel between August to March. At this time, days are mild to warm and nights are comfortable and pleasant. From April onwards the humidity level rises with the temperatures and with the onset of the monsoon in June travel can be difficult in places. The advantages of travel outside the peak season are reduced tariffs, and fewer tourists. At virtually any time of the year, some part of India or other will be suitable to visit.

The tour itineraries can be customized to whatever requirements you wish; indeed this is where our knowledge and experience help us to stand apart. The pre-designed itineraries with fixed departure dates are also very good way of traveling in a small group just like traveling individually with your family and friends. The tour itineraries are all tried and tested over more than a decade of operations.

You may find however that with the vast array of travel options in India you would like to visit other centers, take a little more time in one place or less in another, or indulge in another area of interest altogether. In this case please contact us to discuss the ideas you have.

Taj Mahal, along with all the centrally protected monuments, sites and Museums (under ASI), is open. It depends on which part of India if you wish to visit. In case you are interested in visiting Ladakh or other parts of Himalaya then summer season is the best time. If you want to visit Rajasthan, other parts of North India or South India then winter season (October till March) is ideal period. Even travelling during monsoon months (July – September) is also not a bad idea to visit Rajasthan and other places it presents a good tourism opportunity during this time as one can stay at Luxury or Palace hotels without spending a fortune during those months.

The best way to travel within India is to travel by road as this offers you an opportunity to have a glimpse of real INDIA as you can visit en-route villages and small forts at your own pace which is not possible by air or by train. But, if you are travelling to long distance, then taking a flight or trains can be more convenient and to save time.

Ice made from unpurified tap water can also be dangerous, as the freezing process does not kill the microbes which caused the problems. Indians have developed the immunity to them and can drink most water without fear. Bottled mineral water is readily available in tourist area, but should be brought in advance if travelling elsewhere.

India is country of continental size and home to varied cultural streams and religious value systems. Though the people of India are very tolerant and respectful to different lifestyles and behavioral patterns, we suggest the guests to dress modestly, to cover their heads while visiting religious places, to avoid expressing love and affection publicly and to remove shoes while entering temples, mosques, Gurudwara and places of religious worship or private homes. Many Hindu temples are not open to non-Hindus. Always ask permission before entering. Mosques may have limited visiting times for non-Muslims.

The hot season begins in April and ends in October. It is interrupted by the south-west monsoon which should arrive in mid-June. Apart from the years in which it fails, torrential rain can be expected for 3 months. In Rajasthan, rainfall is always much less than in Delhi and often peters out completely as the monsoon proceeds westward.

The climates of Delhi and Agra are virtually identical, but Rajasthan is significantly dryer, with greater extremes of the day and nights temperatures. In the cool season, November to March, a jacket or cardigan will often be needed from early evening to mid-morning.

Each state has a unique handicraft to proudly reflect the inherited and improved skills to near perfection. Souvenir shops and art & craft emporiums are to be found everywhere.

Yes, the guides do take you to shops and showrooms, while you are on tour. You can say “no” when you don’t want to visit the shops or not interested in shopping with a guide. But when you do visit the store with the guide, you do not necessarily pay a higher price for a substandard product. What we have done is, selected a few stores both privately owned & government owned but in both cases Government recognized) at important destinations.

Most leading credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurant, shops and tourist agencies but check in advance if unsure. American Express usually has lower acceptability than Visa or Mastercard. It is always safer to carry sufficient cash for small purchases, but practically all shops accept cards for major items.

The basic rule: you are not allowed to take rupees in or out of India. That means that you will need to obtain some currency upon arrival, rather than sorting it out in advance. The easy option is to take your debit card and use that at the ubiquitous ATMs in urban areas (and at airports). You can exchange foreign currency at Banks, credit unions, online bureausand currency converters, who provide convenient and often inexpensive currency exchange services.

Yes, you can purchase a local sim card by providing all documents required by the company as per the Government rules and regulations. Mostly, it will require photocopy of your passport and 3 photographs.

Tipping is not mandatory but in last 20-30 years it has become more common. Only small amounts are usually expected, so carry few low -denominations notes (20- 50– 100 rupees) for minor services.

It is usual for the service change to be including in restaurant bills, if not, tip the waiter 10 per cent.
